Writing Workshops
The Your Story. Your Voice. Creative Writing Program started in 2018 and now serves youth and adults — in person and virtual. Weekly meetings blend story craft with positive decision-making, and every season can end in a published anthology.
"We're not teachers, therapists, or famous authors. We're real people who've been through some things — and decided to write our way through them."
"You don't need to be a writer. You just need to be ready."
Self-Publishing Support
You’ve got a story in you. We help real people navigate their own stories and support them through the self-publishing process — hands-on guidance from people who’ve done it themselves:
Free Community Anthology Project
Find the Light Books invites organizations to host a FREE Your Story. Your Voice. anthology — a chance for community members of all ages to share personal stories, poems, and reflections on the theme of Challenge to Triumph, compiled into a professionally published community anthology.
Invite community members to contribute Challenge to Triumph stories — youth and adult tracks run separately.
Writers submit their work with guidance and support from our team.
Find the Light Books compiles and produces a professionally bound anthology.
Honor the authors with a launch event, reading, or book distribution.
Published Anthologies
Originally developed for community youth, Find the Light Books now serves youth, adults, and the organizations that serve them. Every season, workshop stories are collected into a published anthology — four and counting. Each one advances our mission: improving the emotional well-being of individuals and communities through compassionate conversation and self-reflection.
2018 · Racine, WI
Our very first workshop — 8 young writers, 8 weeks, in partnership with John Bryant Community Center in Racine, and a collection of fun, whimsical stories about going from challenge to triumph.
2019
Ten more young writers graduated as published authors — in partnership with Emaus Lutheran Church — sharing stories of the everyday heroes among us.
First adult workshop · Virtual
Six adults, four weeks, one brave virtual room. Our Covid-pivot workshop with Hope Council on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse in Kenosha, WI — honest stories of where support is needed and how we overcome what's beyond our control.
Youth Workshop
Journal pages and encouraging stories from the minds of young writers — seven more young authors putting voice to paper and coming out stronger.
Every season
Every workshop season ends with a graduation ceremony — and a brand-new anthology of fresh voices. Our community anthology project is FREE.
Social Proof
Real reviews are on the way — here's what families can expect.
